Google's 200 Ranking Factors: The Entire List



You Probably know that Google uses about 200 ranking factors in their algorithm...
But What the heck are they?
Well Today you are in for a treat since I've assembled a complete list.
Some are proven.
Some Are controversial.
Others are SEO nerd speculation.

Domain Age:

In this video, Matt Cutts states that:
"The Difference between a domain name that is six months old versus just one year old is really not that large at all."
In Other words, they do utilize domain...but it is not very important.

Repeat Content:

Identical Content on the same site (even marginally altered) can negatively affect a website's search engine visibility.

Ancient Updates Page Updates:

How Frequently has the page been upgraded over time? Daily, weekly, every 5-years? Frequency of page updates also play a part in freshness.

Affiliate Links:

Affiliate Links themselves likely won't hurt your rankings. But in case you have too many, Google's algorithm may pay closer attention to additional superior signals to make sure that you're not a "thin affiliate website".

Rel=Canonical:

When Used correctly, usage of the tag may stop Google from believing pages duplicate content.

Useful Content:

As Pointed out by Backlinko reader Jared Carrizales, Google may differentiate between "quality" and "useful" content.
